How it Started
Since my sophomore year of college, I fell in love with the feeling of creating content for others to enjoy.
Especially during COVID, I spent my free time writing about NFL football. During that time, I had little to no one to talk to about the sport so I just wrote about it whenever I felt like it.
Usually it was to blow off some steam, especially coming from a Buffalo Bills fan, this happens quite often. However, it did give me a sense of relief and enjoyment, and thought that this is something I would want to have a career in.
To this day, I’ve created a bunch of writings that I’ve been proud of. From my time writing sports summaries at 89.1 the Point, and my time writing articles for BuffalowDown as a Freelance Journalist.
Canalside Chronicles
I started my journalism journey on the website where student Journalists write and post their projects for viewers to read. The website's stories are targeted at the Brockport community, so they are typically local news, stories, and upcoming events.
I’ve worked on many projects, and all the content is from sources I gathered, usually from one-on-one interviews. I've only posted three articles on this website, but they all tell a deep story.
89.1 The Point
During my time at the radio station, I was assigned to several occupations. The station was sectioned into different departments, such as sports, news, weather, music, and broadcasting.
I was sectioned with sports and was the color analyst for the college football and softball teams. From there, I learned the working process before, during, and after the games, which included writing a summarization of the game and recording an audio "package" for the sports report later in the night.
Some nights, I would be the one to record the nightly sports reports, which includes recording myself live talking about the local sports outcomes and events in under two minutes.
The job(s) overall includes a lot of patience, preparation, and determination, and would gladly do all of this as a career. These are my written summaries of some games, as I cannot access my audio recordings for the broadcasts and the live sports reports.
Buffalowdown Fansided
My dream job is to be a Sports Journalist, and writing about my favorite team in all of sports is always a pleasure.
Since July, 2023, I’ve written over 60 articles about the Buffalo Bills on a website called Fansided. These artcles range from predictions, game summaries, draft stories, top 5 or 10 lists, and more!
Fansided is a website where many different writers post about relevant sports news, rumors and expert opinions. The website is split off into different sections, down to the specific sports team.
The website is overall very organized and engaging, and gives us writers a chance to show off our story telling skills and sports knowledge.
